A smart and elegant set of eight mid-century dining chairs by Gordon Russel Furniture for Heals (circa 1960’s). Comprising of six standard chairs and two carvers. Thoughtfully crafted in a time mellowed teak, their design is both traditional and mid-century in equal measure so great for mixing and matching with other styles and schemes. The stylish centred back spindles and gently tapering legs lend an elegance that sets off the deep and comfortable sprung seats. We have reupholstered the chairs using flame-retardant foam toppers and a high-quality wool boucle fabric to ensure that they meet with safety standards. This is a beautifully crafted and very well-made set, the joinery, stunning lines and minimalist Scandinavian stylishness sets these apart as among Russell’s finest designs; their quality, elegance and sophistication more than stands the test of time, even 60-plus years since production.

In great condition. The chairs are sturdy with sound springs and have had their foam toppers replaced with flame-retardant foam. We have used a beautiful deep, rich slate grey-coloured wool boucle fabric from Camira Fabrics for the upholstery (also flame retardant) which looks simply fabulous against the tone of the wood. A couple of the chairs have a slightly lighter tone to the wood, however, we don’t feel that this is particularly obvious or aesthetically displeasing, just worth a mention.
