Description
This wonderful Mid Century Modular Wall unit is comprised of a base cabinet, drinks cabinet, and display shelving. This is G-Plan Fresco, a two-piece bar cabinet with sculpted handles and a plinth base. The bottom cabinet is a chest of three drawers, with the top drawer split in two, housing a cutlery tray on the right. The top section has display/bookshelf space at the top and open space at the bottom with a pull-down door in the middle. Behind the drop-down door is a glass shelf, angled to fit bottles in front and glasses on top, in front of a mirrored back. The top section is approximately half the depth of the base module; preventing the unit from appearing overly heavy and dominating the space.
The modular nature of this unit enables easy manoeuvring and offers the opportunity to use both elements independently of the other should you prefer. They are joined by a simple metal plate at the back so that no unsightly support brackets are visible when separated. Additional sections from the range could also be added to create a larger wall unit.
This is a stylish and elegant mid-century cabinet with neat proportions, sleek lines, and rich tones.
This is in good, aesthetically pleasing condition but does have one or two bumps and bruises. Externally there are some small nibbles to the veneer on the base of the top unit and a couple of scratches to the front of the drawers, not particularly unsightly or obvious (see images). The drinks cabinet’s interior has undergone some restoration/repair – the door stays have been replaced with reclaimed working G Plan stays and a couple of areas of damaged veneer have been filled (see images).
