Description
A superbly versatile example of mid century storage and display furniture from British maker Staples Ladderax. This is a multi-functional, wall-leaning two bay system, comprising of a fall-door, sectioned record cabinet (width 59cm x depth 40.5cm x height 39.5cm), two short teak shelves (36cm deep), a storage cabinet with teak sliding doors and adjustable glass shelf, two long narrow shelves (20cm deep) and one long deep shelf (depth 36cm). Each element sits on a pair of metal rods that moor the units and shelves into position underneath and hang onto the ‘rungs’ of the ladder uprights, a very clever piece of design engineering that’s strong, stable and can be arranged in multiple different ways. This particular system, with the later and arguably more aesthetically pleasing, wooden ladder uprights, dates from the 1970s. Ladderax took inspiration from Danish modular furniture and this piece of classic, vintage British design furniture would work in any room in the modern home, it can also be combined with other Ladderax systems to create a longer stretch.
