Description
A beautifully crafted mid century Teak desk (circa late 1960s) designed by Danish designer Bent Silberg and produced by Bent Silberg Mobler. This sleek and stylish piece has a good sized desk top and benefits from 6 drawers; two banks of three located on either side of the knee hole space. Please note that there is no key available to lock the top two drawers.
Aesthetically the desk is a wonderful example of mid century modern design. Clean, linear form with a well balanced design with touches of detail such as the solid teak, fin shaped, drawer pulls. The mellow tone of the wood has a gentle warmth and attractive grain. Design consideration has also been given to the back of the desk which is attractive enough to be viewed front on, enabling it to be located away from a wall, thus offering more room styling options.
Why Buy Me? Fabulously stylish in an unpretentious manner. Well-proportioned and functional design with enviable aesthetics. The perfect addition to a contemporary or mid-century style home office and living space.
In good structural and aesthetic condition with just the odd bump and bruise commensurate with age. The desk top is in lovely condition having been stripped and finished with several layers of Danish oil. Things to note: there is no key for the top drawers and the previous owner has carried out an honest repair to the wood on the inner, right hand side of the knee hole space. This is not particularly noticeable at first glance however, it does include a nail which we decided was best left in place as its removal would probably cause further aesthetic damage. As it currently stands, it seems to visually merge into the wood quite successfully. Please study the images for a good representation of the condition and feel free to message me for any further information.
